A new legislative instrument commencing on 20 February 2017 made a series of changes to the Tourist Visa application processes.
One of the changes brings good news for prospective Chinese applicants of the “Frequent Traveler” stream of visitor visa.
Applications for the subclass 600 Visitor Visa (Frequent Traveler Stream) can now be lodged online completed in simplified Chinese.
The “Frequent Traveler” visitor visa is a 10 year visitor that allows citizens of People’s Republic of China to stay in Australia for up to three months per visit, with multiple entry facilities. Visa holders cannot stay for more than 12 months in a 24 month period.
Applicants for this visa must be a citizen of and located in the People’s Republic of China. Applicants will need to first make an appointment to provide bio-metrics at an Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in China before lodging an online application.
The available numbers for frequent traveler stream visitor visas is initially limited.
