Employer Sponsored Occupation Lists to be updated in January



There are two occupation lists for Employer Sponsored Migration. The lists are:


  • STSOL- Short term skilled occupation List. This is reviewed every 6 months with the new occupation lists released in January and July.

  • MLTSSL- Medium to Long Term Strategic Skills List This is review annually with the updated list to be available in July.


The Department of Employment have introduced a traffic light system to indicate what occupations are flagged to be added or removed.


The occupations which have been flagged for removal from the lists are:


  • 141999 Accommodation and Hospitality Managers (nec)

  • ​142114 Hair or Beauty Salon Manager

  • 223112 Recruitment Consultant

  • 312112 Building Associate


The following occupations are flagged to be added to the STSOL.


  • 242112 University Tutor

  • 272314 Psychotherapist

  • 612112 Property Manager

  • 612114 Real Estate Agent

  • 612115 Real Estate Representative


The above are only proposed changes and expected to only impact 457 and the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) - Direct Entry Stream. For 457 applications it would be expected to impact applications lodged and not yet decided. For Subclass 186 applications it is expected not to impact lodged applications.
