Skilling Australians Fund (SAF)

The proposed Skilling Australians Fund Levy is set for further debate in the Australian Parliament on 13th and 19th March 2018.

The proposed levy will replace the current training benchmarks for employer sponsored visas, including the upcoming TSS visa. The purpose of this training levy is to fund an additional 300,000 places for vocational education and training for Australian workers.

If introduced, the Skilling Australians Fund Levy consists of the following:

Businesses with turnover of less than $10 million per year

  • Repeat payment of $1,200 per year for each employee on a TSS visa

  • Single payment of $3,000 for each employee on a permanent employer sponsored visa

Businesses with turnover of $10 million or more per year

  • Repeat payment of $1,800 year for each employee on a TSS visa

  • Single payment of $5,000 for each employee on a permanent employer sponsored visa
