Subclass 189 Visa – Points-tested stream

 

The skilled independent visa is a points-based visa that allows skilled workers not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government to obtain permanent residency. 

 

Applicants must:

 

  • Have an occupation on the relevant occupation list

  • Have a suitable skills assessment

  • Meet English language requirements

  • Be less than 45 at the time of receiving an invite

  • Meet the minimum pass mark to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI)

  • Receive an invitation to lodge a visa application

 

Subclass 190 Visa

 

The skilled nominated visa is points-based, also requiring state or territory government nomination. It allows skilled workers to obtain permanent residency. 

 

Applicants must:

 

  • Have an occupation on the relevant occupation list

  • Have a suitable skills assessment

  • Meet English language requirements

  • Be less than 45 at the time of receiving an invite

  • Meet the minimum pass mark to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI)

  • Be nominated by a state or territory government. 

  • Receive an invitation to lodge a visa application

As part of the state or territory nomination, you are committing to living and working in the nominating state or territory for two years from the visa grant. 

 

Subclass 491 Visa

 

The Subclass 491 visa is a temporary visa for skilled workers nominated by a state or territory government to live and work in regional Australia. The visa provides a pathway to permanent residency if specific requirements are met.

 

Applicants must:

 

  • Have an occupation on the relevant occupation list

  • Have a suitable skills assessment

  • Meet English language requirements

  • Be less than 45 at the time of receiving an invite

  • Meet the minimum pass mark to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI)

  • Be nominated by a state or territory government. 

  • Receive an invitation to lodge a visa application
