Australia’s 2024-25 State & Territory Nomination Allocations
The Australian government has recently announced the state and territory nomination allocations for the 2024-25 Migration Program, providing valuable insights for potential skilled migrants seeking a future in Australia.
Each year, Australia's Migration Program is carefully planned with allocation numbers calculated to meet ever-changing economic needs. State and territory governments nominate skilled occupations based on their specific labour market requirements, offering clarity to prospective migrants on where in Australia their skills may be most in demand.
New South Wales & Victoria
For the 2024-25 migration year, Victoria and New South Wales have each been allocated 5,000 skilled visa nomination places, consisting of 3,000 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and 2,000 for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
Queensland
Queensland has been allocated 1,200 skilled visa nomination places, consisting of 600 places each for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
Tasmania
Tasmania has been allocated 2,860 places, with 2,100 of those for Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) applications and the remaining 760 for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
South Australia
South Australia’s allocation of skilled visa nomination places includes 3,000 places for Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) applications and 800 for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491), almost double the 2023-24 program year allocation.
Western Australia
5,000 skilled visa nomination places were allocated to Western Australia, with invitation rounds commencing in August 2024 and the $200 application fee waived by the Western Australian government.
ACT
The Australian Capital Territory has been allocated 1,800 nomination places, consisting of 1,000 places for Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) applications and the remaining 800 places allocated for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visas (subclass 491).
Northern Territory
The Northern Territory has been allocated 1,600 places, doubling that of the 2023-24 program year.
