COVID-19 Visa (Subclass 408) continues


COVID-19 Visa

Whilst the Government has indicated that the pandemic event stream under the COVID-19 Visa (Subclass 408) will be phased out in the coming months, the visa currently remains an option.


This stream remains available to eligible applicants. Applicants must hold a visa with work rights to apply, if they arrived in Australia on or after 21 February 2022, and they can apply up to 90 days before their existing visa expires. Applicants must have evidence of current employment or an offer of employment.


The visa is currently being granted for a12-monthh period from date of approval. Work rights are unrestricted with applicants and holders being able change employment and work for more than one employer, including self-employment. Moreover, there is no need to contact the Department to advise of changes in employment.
