Latest Update on 485 Visa - Graduate Work Stream

485 visa - graduate work stream

Recommencing from 1 July 2023, applicants applying for a Subclass 485 visa under the graduate work stream will be required to hold a qualification that is relevant to an occupation listed on the skilled occupation list and obtain a skills assessment for the nominated occupation.

It's important to note that the qualification and skills assessment requirement were not required for applications lodged between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. This was a temporary measure introduced by the Government in response to COVID-19.

The Graduate Work Stream of the Subclass 485 visa is specifically designed for recently graduated international students who possess skills and qualifications that align with specific occupations in demand in Australia. This visa allows them to live and work in Australia for up to 18 months. Notably, Hong Kong passport holders may be granted a Subclass 485 visa that remains valid for a period of 5 years.
