Reminder of Changes to Work Rights

The ease on work restrictions for student visa holders and secondary Subclass 407 visa holders is set to end on July 1, 2023.

Both employers and visa holders should be informed about these changes and ensure compliance starting from July 1.

Student Visa Work Limitations

The temporary easing of work conditions for student visas will cease on July 1, 2023. The work limitation, set at 48 hours per fortnight, will be reinstated on this date.

The Australian Government has, however, made provisions for student visa holders currently employed in the aged care sector as of May 9, 2023. These individuals are permitted to work unlimited hours within the aged care sector until December 31, 2023.

Subclass 407 Secondary Visa Holders

For Subclass 407 secondary visa holders, the work permissions will be reduced to 40 hours per fortnight starting from July 1, 2023.
