Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 491)
The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is a points-tested provisional visa for skilled workers who are either nominated by a state or territory or sponsored by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area. It is granted for five years and is designed as a stepping stone to permanent residence through the subclass 191. You'll generally need an occupation on the relevant list, a suitable skills assessment, at least competent English, and either a state or territory nomination or an eligible relative's sponsorship. Because the visa is built around regional Australia, you'll need to live and work in a designated regional area while you hold it — and it's worth understanding that commitment fully before applying. The regional occupation lists are broader than for other skilled visas, which can open up options that wouldn't otherwise be available. We assess your points, your regional options, and your realistic path to the 191 honestly up front, and a dedicated Registered Migration Agent stays with your case throughout.
What is included
We calculate your points, confirm your occupation is eligible, and map your realistic path from the 491 through to permanent residence via the subclass 191.
Whether you're going through state nomination or family sponsorship, we prepare that side of your application and align it with your visa lodgement.
We identify your assessing authority, help prepare your assessment, and manage your SkillSelect Expression of Interest to present your strongest genuine claim.
We prepare complete health, character, and eligibility evidence so your provisional visa application is lodged ready for the Department to decide.
