Permanent Residency Pathway for TSS and 482 Visa Holders in Regional Australia

Starting from July 1, 2022, certain TSS visa holders in an occupation listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) have been granted pathways to obtain permanent residency in Australia. The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that this pathway also includes those with a 482 visa on the Regional Occupation List (ROL) who meet certain criteria.

The pathway allows subclass 482 visa holders who have stayed in Australia for at least one year between February 1, 2020, and December 14, 2021, to apply for a 186 visa if they fulfill the additional requirements for the Subclass 186 Temporary Transition Stream. These requirements include working for 3 years on a TSS visa in the nominated occupation for the nominating employer in the 4 years before applying and being employed and sponsored by a lawful business in Australia.

As of now, the Department of Home Affairs has indicated that the above pathway will remain in place until July 1, 2024. This creates an excellent opportunity for those living in regional areas to obtain permanent residency in Australia. To determine your eligibility, it is recommended to consult with one of our Registered Migration Agents.
